Introduction
CyberThreats247 ("the App", "we", "our") is a free iOS application developed by Eastrise Inc that aggregates cybersecurity news from public RSS feeds into a single, unified feed for security professionals — SOC analysts, CISOs, penetration testers, and threat researchers.
Privacy is a core design principle, not an afterthought. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what data the App does and does not handle. The short version: we collect nothing about you. What you read stays on your device.
By using CyberThreats247, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you have questions, contact us at echo.whiskey@gmail.com.
Data We Collect
NONE Zero personal data collected — everCyberThreats247 does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information. There are no user accounts, no login, and no registration of any kind. Specifically, we never collect:
- Personal identifiers — name, email address, phone number, or mailing address
- Account credentials — the App has no accounts or login system whatsoever
- Contacts, photos, location data, or health data
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking of any kind
- Crash reports sent to third-party services
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) — the App shows no advertisements
- Search queries — all full-text search runs entirely on-device
- Reading history or article interaction data
- Device fingerprinting information
Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The App saves a small amount of preference data locally on your iPhone using Apple's UserDefaults framework. This data exists solely to remember your settings between sessions and is never transmitted off your device — not to us, not to any third party.
- Bookmarked article IDs — identifiers of articles you've saved for later reading
- Hidden/shown source preferences — your choice to show or hide specific news sources from your feed
- Category filter selection — which topic categories are active in your feed view
This data never leaves your device. It is automatically deleted when you uninstall the App. We have no access to it and cannot retrieve it.
Third-Party Services
The App connects to three categories of external services. In all cases, we do not identify you to these services and do not share personal information with them.
1. RSS News Publishers
CyberThreats247 fetches cybersecurity news from 19 public RSS feeds via standard HTTPS requests. These publishers include Krebs on Security, BleepingComputer, The Hacker News, Dark Reading, Threatpost, CISA, SecurityWeek, Naked Security, Mandiant, Microsoft Threat Intelligence, Google TAG, Cisco Talos, Palo Alto Unit 42, SentinelLabs, and several YouTube cybersecurity channels.
These requests are anonymous — no user identity, account, or tracking token is sent. Each publisher operates its own privacy practices, which we do not control. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any publishers whose content you access directly through their websites.
2. Apple App Store & StoreKit 2
An optional Pro subscription ($4.99/month or $39.99/year) is available for enhanced features. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit 2.
We never see, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card details, Apple ID, or any financial data. Subscription status is verified locally via StoreKit. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles purchase data.
3. OneSignal (Push Notifications) Not Active in v1.1.0
In a future release, the App may offer opt-in push notifications to deliver breaking threat alerts. If and when this feature is enabled, we may use OneSignal to deliver those notifications.
If you opt in, only an anonymous device push token would be shared with OneSignal — no name, no email, no personal information of any kind. You will be prompted to grant notification permission before this occurs. This feature is not active in the current version of the App. When it launches, this policy will be updated accordingly.
No Analytics or Tracking
CyberThreats247 contains zero analytics SDKs, tracking pixels, ad networks, or behavioral monitoring of any kind. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Flurry, or any comparable service. We do not use tracking pixels in article views. We have no way to see which articles you read, how long you use the App, or any other behavioral data.
The App's networking activity is limited to fetching public RSS feeds over HTTPS. Nothing else is transmitted.
Push Notifications
Push notifications are not active in the current release (v1.1.0). No notification permissions are requested at this time.
When this feature is introduced in a future version, it will be fully opt-in. iOS will present the standard system permission dialog before any notification access is granted. You may revoke notification permission at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → CyberThreats247.
If you opt in to notifications in a future release, only an anonymous device push token will be shared with our notification delivery provider (OneSignal). No personal information is associated with that token.
In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
CyberThreats247 is free to download and use. An optional Pro subscription ($4.99/month or $39.99/year) unlocks additional features. All billing is managed entirely by Apple through the App Store.
We have no access to your payment method, credit card number, billing address, or Apple ID. We receive only a confirmation of subscription status from Apple's StoreKit 2 framework, which is processed on-device.
To manage or cancel your subscription, go to iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions. For refund requests, contact Apple Support directly. For Apple's payment privacy details, see apple.com/legal/privacy.
Children's Privacy
CyberThreats247 carries an App Store age rating of 17+ due to the nature of cybersecurity news content, which includes coverage of hacking incidents, malware, data breaches, and related topics not appropriate for minors.
We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, and this applies equally to users of any age. Because no data is collected at all, no data from children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions) can be collected, used, or retained by us.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the App, please be assured no information was collected. If you have concerns, contact us at echo.whiskey@gmail.com.
Data Retention
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing for us to retain. We hold no records, databases, or files containing user information of any kind.
The only data that persists is the local preference data stored on your device (bookmarks, source preferences, filter settings). This data is retained on your device until you uninstall the App, at which point iOS automatically removes all App data. You can also manually reset App data at any time by reinstalling the App.
Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Privacy regulations such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grant individuals rights over their personal data — including the rights to access, delete, correct, and port that data.
Because CyberThreats247 collects no personal data, these rights have nothing to apply to on our end — there is no data to access, delete, correct, or export. We hold nothing about you.
The only data relevant to your privacy is the local preference data stored on your own device:
- To delete all App data: Uninstall CyberThreats247 from your iPhone. iOS will remove all local data automatically.
- To reset preferences only: Reinstall the App to start with a clean slate.
- To submit a privacy inquiry: Email us at echo.whiskey@gmail.com — we will respond within 30 days.
If you are an EU resident and believe we have not adequately addressed a privacy concern, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the App evolves. When changes are made, we will update the Last Updated date at the top of this page.
Material changes — such as the introduction of new third-party services or any data collection practices — will be announced in the App's release notes on the App Store so you are aware before updating. We will never introduce personal data collection silently.
Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. The current version of this policy is always available at cyberthreats247.com/privacy.
